**KTM’s Rollercoaster Start: Guidotti Defends Riders Amid Inconsistent Season**
KTM remains reluctant to blame their riders following an "unusual start to the season," even though the "pace is evident."
Francesco Guidotti is of the opinion that KTM had the potential to perform better in the 2024 MotoGP season, despite what the final standings indicate.
After an impressive double podium finish by Brad Binder in Qatar at the start of the season, KTM, aside from the exceptional rookie Pedro Acosta, has faced difficulties.
Binder hasn't reached the podium since then, and Jack Miller hasn't secured a podium finish this season.
Guidotti mentioned that they experienced a strong beginning, both in terms of the season and the winter testing period.
"The journey has been quite inconsistent with numerous crashes following the initial round, and I believe we didn't achieve the results we deserved, despite having the required speed."
"In the past few races, we've lacked some pace and confidence. The start of this season has been unusual and inconsistent."
Commenting on Binder's season, Guidotti remarked: "The pace was consistently strong, but at times we failed to capitalize on key opportunities. This was due to various factors, including some crashes and underperformance during critical moments."
"While the potential was evident, we failed to fully capitalize on his capabilities."
Concerning Miller's departure from the Austrian brand at the season's end, Guidotti refrained from holding the Australian responsible for the underperformance.
"He lost the confidence he had with the front, which was a strength for him last season, but I wouldn't say he made any mistakes," the factory KTM team manager added.
"As a team, we share both victories and defeats. Throughout this year, we failed to provide the ideal setup for his way of riding, and we couldn't fully demonstrate what we are capable of."
Acosta has emerged as KTM's top performer this season, currently holding the sixth spot in the rankings, just ahead of Binder who is in seventh place.
When talking about the young Spaniard, it was no surprise that Guidotti was quick to commend the current Moto2 champion.
"You can never predict what to expect from this type of rider [laughs] because they always manage to surprise you in some way."
"He is warmly welcomed into the project and offers us unwavering support in a unique manner."
