KTM Slams GASGAS Sale Rumours as ‘Total Nonsense’; Unveils Strongest-Ever 2025 MotoGP Line-Up
Rumors of KTM selling GASGAS have been dismissed as "total nonsense" by the company.
KTM has denied rumors that they might sell GASGAS, following their decision to withdraw the Spanish brand from the MotoGP competition in 2025.
Next season, KTM will operate as a complete factory team with all four of its motorcycles.
Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales, who will compete for Tech 3, will essentially have the status of factory riders, similar to Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta.
GASGAS has been removed from the MotoGP project, similar to how Husqvarna has been taken out of Motocross.
In an interview with GPOne, Hubert Trunkenpolz, a member of the executive board at Pierer Mobility, addressed the speculation: "Those rumors are completely unfounded and baseless; it's utter nonsense."
"I'd rather not respond to unsubstantiated claims or statements such as these."
In 2025, KTM's MotoGP team will feature the most powerful roster they have ever assembled.
Up to now, 2024 has not unfolded as expected since they have yet to secure a victory in either a grand prix or a sprint.
However, the RC16 motorcycle continues to be competitive and will have three race winners riding it next season, as well as the impressive newcomer, Acosta.
Trunkenpolz stated: "Following the Mugello GP, we provided an initial update by confirming that KTM will have four riders in MotoGP for the 2025 season – Binder, Acosta, Bastianini, and Vinales."
"We believe this will be the most formidable MotoGP team we've ever assembled. Additionally, we've chosen to engage with younger riders and the next generation through our GASGAS brand moving forward."
Regarding Huskvarna, the brand is highly regarded in the United States, making it unwise to abandon off-road sports entirely.
"Given the current global economic conditions, we have chosen to align all our brands with the international economic landscape."
