KTM Debunks GASGAS Sale Rumors as ‘Total Nonsense,’ Announces Strongest MotoGP Line-up for 2025
KTM dismisses speculation about selling GASGAS as completely unfounded
KTM has refuted claims of potentially offloading GASGAS, following their decision to withdraw the Spanish marque from its MotoGP venture in 2025.
In the upcoming season, KTM is set to elevate all four of its bikes to a complete factory team status.
This implies that Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales, who are set to join Tech 3, will effectively have the same status as factory riders, similar to Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta.
GASGAS and Husqvarna have been discontinued from the MotoGP and Motocross projects, respectively.
In an interview with GPOne, Hubert Trunkenpolz, a member of the executive board at Pierer Mobility, dismissed the speculation, stating, "There's absolutely no truth or substance to either rumor; it's complete nonsense."
"I'd rather not respond to unfounded rumors or statements of this nature."
KTM's MotoGP team for 2025 is set to be their most powerful lineup to date.
The year 2024 has not unfolded as expected, with them still lacking a victory in either a grand prix or a sprint race.
However, the RC16 continues to be a competitive motorcycle, and next season, it will be ridden by three racers who have previously won races, in addition to the up-and-coming star Acosta.
Trunkenpolz mentioned, "Following the Mugello GP, we initially clarified by confirming four racers with KTM for the MotoGP 2025 season – Binder, Acosta, Bastianini, and Vinales."
"This lineup for the MotoGP is arguably the most formidable we've ever assembled. Additionally, we've made the decision to connect with the upcoming generation and younger talents through our GASGAS brand moving forward.
Regarding Huskvarna, this brand is highly esteemed in the US as well, making it unthinkable to completely abandon off-road sports.
"In light of the current global economic climate, we've chosen to align all of our brands with the prevailing economic conditions."
