Jorge Martin dominated the Friday practice sessions at the British MotoGP, outperforming Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro and Ducati’s championship front-runner Francesco Bagnaia.
Enea Bastianini and Marco Bezzecchi encountered engine problems early on, with Bastianini having to abandon his smoking factory GP24 and Bezzecchi struggling back to the pits on his GP23.
That obstacle didn't stop The Beast for long, as he soon came back to take the lead early in the session, ahead of his factory teammate Bagnaia.
Bastianini held the top spot for speed beyond the halfway point, but Maverick Vinales of Aprilia took over just before fresh tires were put on.
As the timed trials commenced, Espargaro, the 2023 champion, managed to surpass his teammate by 0.065 seconds. However, the newly announced 2025 VR46 rider, Fabio di Giannantonio, momentarily took the lead with his GP23.
Martin, who led the morning session, initially secured the P1 position as the final run commenced. However, Bagnaia and a revitalized Jack Miller soon overtook him. Espargaro briefly reclaimed the lead until his close friend Martin posted the day's fastest lap time at 1 minute and 57.911 seconds.
Marc Marquez clinched the last spot for direct entry into Qualifying 2, while rookie sensation Pedro Acosta failed to make it into the top ten and will have to compete in Saturday's Qualifying 1.
