**”Jorge Martin Reflects on Silverstone Runner-Up Finish: ‘Result Would Have Been the Same’ Despite Mistake”**
Jorge Martin acknowledges that the outcome would have been unchanged despite the error
Jorge Martin concedes that he couldn't have kept Enea Bastianini at bay, even if he hadn't made a mistake on the second-to-last lap.
Jorge Martin was on the verge of securing his first grand prix victory since the race at Le Mans, but Enea Bastianini managed to overtake him, clinching his second win at Silverstone, similar to his performance in the MotoGP sprint race on Saturday.
Bastianini capitalized on an error made by Martin at the third turn, and although this mistake handed Bastianini the lead, the new championship leader believes it was inevitable that the factory rider would secure the victory.
Discussing his weekend, Martin remarked, "Personally, I didn't have strong confidence with the front throughout the weekend."
"I faced significant challenges. Today, we made a slight advancement, and I believe we're still working on establishing our fundamental setup."
"I'm not sure why we always switch from Saturday to Sunday, but today felt slightly better. However, I wasn't feeling completely well, and there was some movement."
"When I was following Pecco, I felt comfortable, but I had difficulty slowing down the bike when I was leading."
"Noticing that Enea was nearing, I tried hard to stay ahead, but I made an error. I believe the outcome would have been unchanged."
Martin successfully overcame his challenges at Sachsenring and outpaced Francesco Bagnaia in both races at Silverstone.
When questioned regarding his recovery after the error in Germany, Martin swiftly emphasized that championships are earned through consistent performance throughout the year.
Martin expressed his opinion by saying, "I believe that either Sachsenring wasn't as poor as it seemed, or that today was exceptionally good."
"It's important to achieve a balance throughout the entire season, and I believe we are excelling in that regard."
The summer vacation wasn't the greatest for me since I felt somewhat down. However, achieving such a strong outcome is amazing, and finishing in second place was the best I could do.
"I aimed to run a smart race and handle everything well. The speed was high, and I pushed for victory until the end, but Enea was closing in."
"I attempted to keep up with him, but he was unbeatable. His performance was outstanding today. We need to work on building our confidence in the areas that need improvement."
Martin, who mentioned that his top possible result at Silverstone was second place, is optimistic about securing a victory in Austria.
"I am completely concentrated on the things I can influence," stated the Spaniard. "I have no control over whether someone else defeats me. All I can do is give my best effort."
"Today we finished in second place, and we're hoping for a better outcome in Austria."
"No matter what happens, I will make an effort to appreciate, savor the emotions, and take pleasure in everything that occurs on the track."
