Jorge Martin secures back-to-back victories in Friday's practice sessions at the British MotoGP, outpacing Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro and the championship frontrunner from Ducati, Francesco Bagnaia.
Enea Bastianini and Marco Bezzecchi encountered engine problems from the start, with Bastianini having to stop his GP24 due to it emitting smoke, while Bezzecchi managed to return to the pits on his GP23.
The hindrance barely slowed The Beast down; he quickly came back to dominate the initial segment of the session, ahead of his team member from the factory squad, Bagnaia.
Bastianini held the lead in speed up until the midpoint, when Maverick Vinales from Aprilia took over the top spot shortly before new tires were installed.
The attack on the clock started with 2023 champion Espargaro, who managed to outpace his team-mate by 0.065 seconds, before the recently announced VR46 rider for 2025, Fabio di Giannantonio, momentarily took the lead with his GP23.
At the outset of the last race, Martin, who was leading in the morning, had the pole position until Bagnaia and a revitalized Jack Miller overtook him. Subsequently, Espargaro regained the lead, until his close ally Martin set the day's fastest time at 1 minute and 57.911 seconds.
Marc Marquez was the last racer to clinch a spot in Qualifying 2, while newcomer sensation Pedro Acosta didn't make the cut for the top ten, setting him up for a stint in Saturday's Qualifying 1.

Jorge Martin moves past his Sachsenring mishap by topping the first practice session for the British MotoGP 2024 at Silverstone.
The standout rider from Pramac Ducati, who fell behind in the championship standings by ten points to the current leader and defending champion Francesco Bagnaia due to a mistake at the German GP, ended the session with a 0.210-second lead over the official Aprilia pair, Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro.
Jack Miller, representing KTM, secured a commendable fourth place, while Ducati riders Franco Morbidelli, Enea Bastianini, Fabio di Giannantonio, and Francesco Bagnaia rounded out the leading eight positions.
Fabio Quartararo secured the ninth position riding for Yamaha, whereas Marc Marquez had a swift accident at Turn 15, Stowe, near the conclusion of Hangar Straight, but still managed to finish tenth despite the mishap in the closing moments.
Pedro Acosta, who finished in 11th place, experienced a fall towards the end of the race, having skidded through the gravel at Turn 6, located at the conclusion of the Wellington
Wildcard entry Remy Gardner finished in 23rd place.
This morning, Trackhouse competitor Raul Fernandez had his first Grand Prix outing aboard an Aprilia RS-GP24, after competing on the 2023 model up until this point in the season.
On Sunday, every participant and team will debut unique, retro liveries commemorating the 75th anniversary, while Trackhouse introduces an updated 'standard' livery starting this weekend.
