Jorge Martin Addresses Competitor's Remarks Regarding His Crash During the Sprint Race
Jorge Martin commented on Pecco Bagnaia's interpretation of his crash during the Mandalika sprint race.
The rider from Pramac Ducati secured the top spot in qualifying, only to unexpectedly crash during the initial laps of the Saturday race at the Indonesian MotoGP.
He got back on his bike and secured a 10th place finish, while Bagnaia claimed victory in the race, closing the gap to just 12 points behind Martin in the MotoGP rankings.
"In the opening lap, I attempted to keep pace with Jorge, thinking 'if he tightens his trajectory, I'll be four seconds behind, given his excessive speed on entry,'” explained Bagnaia.
Upon seeing it, I pursued. The moment he went inside, he was at a disadvantage.
The temperature of the pavement reached 63 degrees. This created a challenging situation.
"I believed he came in with a lot of force. If we decide to proceed, we must commit."
"He had an accident. The conditions were challenging. I experienced two instances where I lost control of the front while racing."
Martin replied, "Pecco finds it quite simple to claim that I was going too fast!"
"My aim is to have a quick pace tomorrow and secure victory with a four-second lead."
"My aim is to give it my all. I possess the capability to achieve it.
"It's quite simple to talk when things have gone well…"
Martin claimed he was uncertain about the clear reason behind his accident, stating, “Not yet. It's been a season full of ups and downs…
"I attempted to investigate the matter, but in my view, I haven't made any mistakes. I simply had an accident."
I aim to focus on the positives. I maintained a clear track and successfully passed many riders from the back.
Bagnaia mentioned: "I put in maximum effort in the first three sectors. The fourth sector isn't my strongest area."
"I widened the distance to lead from the forefront."
Bagnaia is set to change from soft to medium tires for Sunday's major race.
He has not had a good relationship with the mediums in Mandalika before.
However, Bagnaia remains optimistic about turning his luck around: "Given what we've picked up, I believe it's possible. It's premature to make any declarations…"
