**”Jorge Martin Braces for Tough Battle Against Francesco Bagnaia in Misano MotoGP Sprint”**
Jorge Martin cautions that overcoming Francesco Bagnaia in the Misano sprint will be a significant challenge. “It’s going to be very tough to defeat Pecco,” he stated.
Pramac’s Jorge Martin thinks it will be challenging to overcome Francesco Bagnaia in the MotoGP Emilia Romagna Grand Prix sprint on Saturday, as Bagnaia secured a commanding pole position.
Following the practice sessions on Friday, Bagnaia and Martin stood out as the top contenders for victory at Misano, based on both their lap times and extended performance runs.
During the qualifying session, Bagnaia and Martin outperformed all other competitors. Bagnaia secured pole position by breaking the lap record and was 0.214 seconds faster than the championship leader, Martin. Enea Bastianini took third place, trailing Bagnaia by an additional 0.319 seconds.
After enhancing his previous fourth-place performance in the Misano qualifying, Martin foresees that surpassing Bagnaia in today's sprint "will be extremely challenging."
In an interview with TNT Sport, he expressed uncertainty about the race, saying, "I'm not sure about the sprint."
"I definitely concentrate on my own abilities and believe that I am capable of achieving it."
"Today's challenge of defeating Pecco is incredibly tough, but I am committed to giving it my all."
"I feel at ease and extremely pleased that we bettered our qualifying spot, especially since I had a tough time just two weeks ago."
"Overall, I believe our performance is strong, and Pecco is doing very well, so I'll do my best to compete against him."
Martin mentioned that he has had to switch between configurations for his qualifying and race bikes, as he has found it challenging to maximize the performance of his machine in time attack mode at Misano.
"I'm doing pretty well," he mentioned.
"It appears that we are utilizing different configurations: one specifically for qualifying and another for the race. Under these conditions with this level of grip, I find it challenging to perform time attacks."
"We'll revert to using our regular bike for the race."
Martin explained that his last lap in Q2 was affected because he didn't maintain enough distance from his Pramac teammate Franco Morbidelli, catching up to the Italian faster than he had expected.
“It was a good position, but perhaps I should have given Frankie a little more room because by the time I reached the second sector, I had already caught up to him,” he remarked about his last lap.
"Therefore, I believe it was challenging to make progress. However, I think there is still room for improvement. As for the race, I feel confident and competitive."
