Joan Mir inks new deal with Honda
Joan Mir confirms his place with Repsol Honda for 2025 and 2026
Joan Mir has entered into a fresh agreement with Honda.
He has decided to stay with the Repsol Honda MotoGP team for the upcoming two seasons.
Mir clinched the 2020 MotoGP title while racing for Suzuki, but has faced significant challenges since moving to Honda, which has been experiencing its own difficulties.
He was the last partner of Marc Marquez before Marquez retired last year. Mir's debut season was marred by several accidents.
This season, Mir's highest finish in a grand prix is 12th place.
However, Honda continues to be a dominant force in MotoGP and plans to use the updated concessions rules to fight their way back to the forefront.
Mir and Luca Marini will continue to be the official team duo for the next season.
"To begin with, I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to race with Honda and HRC for the upcoming two years," Mir stated.
"I aimed to maintain this collaboration, and this time I have succeeded."
Since 2023, I have been collaborating with HRC. As our partnership progresses, I am confident that sharing my insights with HRC will help enhance the RC213V.
"I understand my goals and the potential of Honda, so my hope is that we can reach them together. We'll keep putting in the effort for the rest of this season to ensure a better future."
Koji Watanabe, the President of Honda Racing Corporation, expressed his delight about participating in MotoGP with Joan Mir for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
"This season has been exceptionally challenging for Honda and HRC, presenting difficulties they have never faced previously."
"Despite these challenges, Mir has placed his faith in the team, and we deeply appreciate his relentless determination and perseverance. Together with Mir, we aim to collaborate with all involved parties to stage a recovery and strive to fulfill our fans' expectations as quickly as we can."
"Thank you once more to all the fans who consistently show us their support. We eagerly anticipate your ongoing encouragement."
