Stunning development as Jack Miller nears agreement with a new MotoGP team
Jack Miller approaches securing a new MotoGP contract to revive his career
According to sources, Jack Miller is expected to continue competing in MotoGP in 2025, with an upcoming announcement about his new opportunity at Pramac Yamaha.
The career of the rider who has clinched four Grand Prix victories in MotoGP appeared to be nearing its conclusion post the 2024 season, following his departure from the KTM team.
At the British Grand Prix, he informed the gathered press that he had not received any MotoGP offers, mentioning that his phone was quiet. Additionally, there were rumors before the Silverstone event suggesting Ducati had proposed a World Superbike contract to him.
Nonetheless, at the British Grand Prix, Miller was seen exiting the Pramac hospitality alongside his manager Aki Ajo, which led to speculation that he was discussing a possible comeback to the team, especially in light of its upcoming transition to a Yamaha satellite team the following year.
As reported by motosans.es, an agreement has been reached for Miller to team up with Miguel Oliveira at the Pramac racing team, where they will be riding factory-supported Yamahas starting in 2025.
Sky Italia has reported that Miller is increasingly nearing a deal to sign with Pramac.
Miller was part of the Pramac racing team, riding a Ducati from 2018 to 2020, before advancing to Ducati's main team in 2021, where he raced alongside the two-time world champion Francesco Bagnaia.
Initially, his name was associated with Pramac when it was announced they were moving to Yamaha, but it appeared that a newcomer from Moto2 was poised to take the second satellite M1 spot.
Miller was also connected to Trackhouse, but it appears that the team plans to pair Ai Ogura with Raul Fernandez for the 2025 season.
According to es.motorsport.com, discussions were held between Australia's Linfox group, the proprietor of Phillip Island, and Gresini regarding the acquisition of the satellite Ducati team, a move that would have ensured Miller's continued presence in the racing lineup.
Nonetheless, Nadia Padovani reportedly turned down the takeover proposal, effectively closing off a potential rescue opportunity for Miller.
The belief that Dorna is keen on adding variety to the MotoGP lineup is considered one reason for retaining Miller through 2025. However, Miller has consistently emphasized that his nationality should not be the sole reason for his selection.
Over the past ten years, Miller has played a pivotal role as a development rider.
He pioneered the use of Ducati's early ride height systems during his tenure with Pramac, and he kept on evaluating new products for the Italian manufacturer even after inking a contract with the factory team of KTM.
Highly esteemed by the Pramac team, Miller's expertise with Honda, Ducati, and KTM bikes, alongside Oliveira's familiarity with KTM and Aprilia, is set to significantly enhance Yamaha's ongoing revitalization efforts.
Miller is set to team up again with Yamaha's technical chief, Max Bartolini, a collaboration that previously occurred during their time at Ducati.
