Jack Miller Addresses 2025 MotoGP Rumours: ‘I Don’t Want My Nationality to Define My Ride
Jack Miller addresses the speculation about his future in MotoGP for 2025, stating, "I don't want to be here just because I'm Australian." He emphasizes that he doesn't want his nationality to be the reason for his presence in the sport.
Jack Miller has stated that he does not want his nationality to be a factor in securing a MotoGP position for 2025, despite growing speculation about him possibly rejoining Pramac.
The four-time Grand Prix victor seemed poised to exit the top-tier category as MotoGP entered its summer hiatus last month. Following the British Grand Prix, Miller informed the press that no teams had shown interest in hiring him.
In the last few weeks, he has been closely associated with securing a position on the Pramac Yamaha team, joining Miguel Oliveira.
During the Austrian Grand Prix, he acknowledged that discussions have taken place, but no agreements have been finalized.
MotoGP's desire to maintain an Australian presence in their lineup is believed to have played a role in his consideration for a spot at Pramac. Additionally, the team appears to have chosen to focus on seasoned riders to speed up the progress of the Yamaha.
In response to this, Miller's remarks were quoted by Fox Sports, stating: "Ultimately, these teams are investing millions of dollars in racing."
"It doesn't matter if you are Australian, Spanish, Chinese, or from any other nationality; if you have speed, they will sign you."
“I prefer my speed to speak for me rather than having it documented on my passport.
"Spain and Italy clearly have very powerful cyclists right now, but I have no desire to be here solely due to my nationality; that holds no appeal for me."
"I want to stay here because I think I can compete with these people."
“Last week in Q2 at Silverstone, we placed in the top seven during the sprint race. We still have strong performance, and I believe I have more to learn and improve. I don’t want my presence here to be solely because I’m from Australia.”
Miller faced a challenging season with KTM in 2024, but he was performing strongly in the Austrian GP last weekend until he crashed while in sixth place.
The Australian rider competed with Pramac on Ducati bikes from 2018 to 2020, before moving up to the factory team of the Italian brand for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
Miller has previously collaborated with Max Bartolini, Yamaha's new technical leader, during their time together at Ducati.
