Horner vs. Jos Verstappen: Red Bull’s Harmony Tested Amidst Legends Parade Controversy
Christian Horner comments on disagreement amidst tension with Jos Verstappen
Red Bull's Christian Horner has once more voiced his opinion regarding his dispute with Jos Verstappen.
Once more, questions have been raised about the perceived discord between Red Bull Formula 1 team leader Christian Horner and the father of Max Verstappen, Jos.
The most recent conflict between Horner and Verstappen Sr arose during the Austrian Grand Prix, where the senior Verstappen claimed that the Red Bull team leader intentionally prevented his participation in a Legends Parade scheduled before the race on Sunday.
Red Bull maintained that this was not true but chose not to use or distribute any pictures or videos of Verstappen Sr on their social media platforms.
On Friday, while in Austria, Horner emphasized that he did not block Verstappen's planned participation in a 2012 championship-winning RB8 event.
Following his victory in Saturday's sprint race, three-time Formula 1 champion Verstappen expressed his opinion, suggesting that the dispute was needless and "could have been prevented."
Verstappen Jr secured a commanding lead for Sunday's race at the Red Bull Ring by achieving the top spot in the qualifying round.
In a conversation with Sky Sports F1 following the session, Horner was queried on his approach to handling the 'discord' between him and Verstappen Sr.
"Frankly, once we step into the garage, everything feels ordinary," stated Horner.
No matter the distractions, the moment everyone gathers in the garage, each person is clear on their role and collectively concentrates on achieving a singular objective. We boast an exceptional team.
"Max stands out as the top driver globally, demonstrating his prowess unmistakably. His personal growth and how he conducts himself are also noteworthy."
During a discussion with the Dutch magazine Formula 1's website, Verstappen Sr expressed his total frustration with Horner, describing the Red Bull team leader as "immature".
Sharing his perspective on the matter, Verstappen Jr. expressed, “Obviously, it's unpleasant, I believe not just for me, but also for my father, Christian, and the entire team.
"Certainly, nobody wishes for such outcomes. From what I gather, my father has explicitly explained the rationale, and undoubtedly, I can grasp his perspective on the matter."
