**Honda’s Faith in Joan Mir: The Key to Rebuilding MotoGP Success**
Honda praised for retaining trust in Joan Mir
"Consistency is crucial when undertaking a project rebuild."
Repsol Honda's choice to retain Joan Mir alongside Luca Marini for the upcoming year is said to offer them the optimal opportunity for growth.
Mir's latest agreement, extending his tenure with Honda for an additional two years, came as a bit of a shock given the difficulties he has faced following his transition from Suzuki.
Last year, during his initial season with Honda, he was so unhappy that he thought about quitting.
However, once Mir announced he would remain with the team through 2025 and 2026, Sylvain Guintoli of TNT Sports responded: “It’s a smart move for both Joan and Honda to maintain their current roster.”
“They are currently in a position where they need to make up for lost ground."
"Right from the beginning, when Honda began modifying the aerodynamics and the chassis, it was wise for [Mir and Marini] to stay committed to that project."
"When undertaking the reconstruction of a project, maintaining consistency is crucial.
"Adding two new riders would make it harder to receive useful feedback."
"This group understands what is ineffective."
"These individuals are the most qualified to evaluate the bike's development."
Marini signed with Repsol Honda this season, marking his debut as a factory rider following his departure from VR46.
However, he has consistently been at the rear of the pack throughout the season and remains at the last position in the MotoGP rankings.
Throughout the entire season, Marini has only earned a single point, placing him behind Dani Pedrosa, who participated just once as a wildcard.
Mir has seen some improvement in his second year on the substandard motorcycle.
Honda is set to launch a new engine during the upcoming race in Austria.
Mir and Marini have been using a downgraded version of Honda's engine for the last three races in an effort to achieve the perfect tuning for their motorcycles.
The updated concession rules for this year allow Honda to launch a new engine halfway through the season, aiming to boost their performance and help them return to the leading position.
