Historic Triumph for Aprilia: Aleix Espargaro’s Resurgence Leads All Four Bikes to Q2 at Aragon MotoGP
Aleix Espargaro expressed immense satisfaction following a landmark achievement for Aprilia at the Aragon MotoGP. Despite ending up at the bottom in FP1, Espargaro secured the second position during Friday afternoon's session.
Aleix Espargaro secured the second position during the Practice session at the Aragon MotoGP, contributing to a milestone moment for Aprilia.
Following Espargaro, Maverick Vinales secured third place, Raul Fernandez finished in ninth, and Miguel Oliveira took the 10th spot. This achievement marked the first time that the Noale factory managed to get all four of its motorcycles into Q2.
In an interview with MotoGP.com, Espargaro mentioned that in recent Grand Prix races, the RS-GP has been performing well, and he believes that both he and Maverick Vinales consistently make it into Q2.
"I'm pleased that today Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez from Trackhouse were really fast and joined our team. I believe this is the first time ever that we have four bikes finishing in the top 10, so I'm very happy and feel that it's well-deserved."
Espargaro's day began poorly, with the rider ranked 22nd at the conclusion of FP1, marking the second consecutive Friday morning he finished last overall. Previously, he had placed 25th in FP1 at the Red Bull Ring.
He explained that he had some difficulty this morning with the new asphalt, as it was challenging for him to gauge the grip.
"You can't use the best tires in every session because you don't have enough of them, so you have to use the worst ones in the first practice session. This made my morning particularly challenging."
Espargaro experienced a shift in the afternoon as his comfort level with the RS-GP returned to a more typical state.
“This afternoon, I began to feel more like myself,” he mentioned. “I was highly competitive towards the end of the session, which really pleased me.”
