Hamilton’s Rare Spin at US GP Sparks Concern Over Mercedes’ New Upgrade Package
Lewis Hamilton suggests recent enhancements to the Mercedes triggered an unusual spin at the United States Grand Prix. "The vehicle began to hop, with the front left wheel bouncing, and then the back simply swung out. It was identical to what happened with George the day before."
Lewis Hamilton has implied that the new improvements made to the Mercedes might have been responsible for his unexpected spin at the beginning of the United States Grand Prix.
Hamilton was the sole driver who did not finish in Sunday's race at the Circuit of the Americas, losing control and veering into the gravel trap at the second-to-last corner on the third lap.

In a manner akin to his teammate George Russell, who spun out in his Mercedes during the qualifying round.
Hamilton expressed astonishment at the spin, attributing it to "bouncing" beforehand.
According to Motorsport.com, Hamilton remarked, "I had an excellent beginning, felt positive, and managed to climb up to 12th position. It was the most impressive start I've had at the first turn in quite a while.
"At that moment, I wasn't exerting any effort; I was simply attempting to start moving and warming up the tires.
"The vehicle began to jerk, its left front side oscillating, and then the back swung around. It mirrored what happened with George the day before."
Hamilton suggested that the new upgrade kit he used during the race, unlike Russell who didn't after starting from the pit lane due to a crash, might have been the reason for his spin.
"He also mentioned experiencing a similar incident during P1, saying, 'I encountered a spin at Turn 3, which is quite unusual. Throughout my entire career here, I've never had a spin at Turn 3 before."
"I was merely commenting on George evidently facing the same issue yesterday. He's reverted to the previous model of the car and appears to be performing well on the track, suggesting that perhaps there's an issue with the latest upgrade."
"We plan to conduct thorough investigations and, following today's efforts, we'll review the findings to determine whether we'll proceed with the previous or updated specifications in the coming week."
Mercedes leader Toto Wolff firmly believes "we certainly have a problem," attributing the mistake to the vehicle's aerodynamic balance rather than Hamilton.
"Wolff told Sky, attributing the incident entirely to the car. He mentioned that at that point, the driver wasn't even exerting much effort. He recalled a similar situation with George the previous day, who, despite pushing, faced similar issues."
"There's undoubtedly a problem here. It's not characteristic for Lewis Hamilton to lose control of his vehicle on the 5th lap."
