Francesco Bagnaia secures his third consecutive victory at the Austrian MotoGP, finishing ahead of his championship contender Jorge Martin.
Ducati achieved a flawless podium finish for the eighth consecutive grand prix, with Enea Bastianini securing third place.
After winning the Sprint, the reigning champion Bagnaia is now five points ahead of Martin in the world championship standings.
Starting from the front row, Marc Marquez's chances of winning were dashed when he crashed at Turn 1 after being in second place during the Saturday Sprint.
Marc Marquez couldn't activate his front ride-height device on the starting grid, leading to a poor start. He then collided with Franco Morbidelli in the braking zone, causing both riders to veer off course.
Marquez returned to the race in 13th position, and the Gresini rider managed to finish in fourth place by the end, keeping up with the frontrunners' pace in the latter part of the race. However, Bastianini, who was ahead, had already pulled far ahead.
The FIM Stewards decided that the Turn 1 incident required no additional measures.
Martin, who secured pole position, got off to a strong start under sunny and warm conditions, leading the race ahead of Bagnaia. However, weather forecasts indicated the possibility of rain midway through the race.
At the beginning of the race, Bastianini made significant strides, moving up from seventh place to third, right behind his teammate Bagnaia.
The leading trio started distancing themselves from the rest of the competitors, but after 10 of the 28 laps, Bastianini started to fall behind and maintained a solitary third place.
Following his unsuccessful efforts to reclaim the lead, Martin trailed his rival up until the midpoint of the race, at which point Bagnaia accelerated significantly.
Trailing Bastianini, Brad Binder, known for his quick starts, secured the best position for KTM by finishing fifth in their home race, falling behind Marquez with ten laps remaining.
Jack Miller, a teammate of Binder, experienced a crash while navigating the chicane from sixth position shortly before the race's midpoint, after narrowly avoiding a collision with Marquez on the previous lap.
Marco Bezzecchi, riding the sole VR46 bike, secured the sixth position.
Following his impressive performance on the podium on Saturday, Aleix Espargaro was overtaken by his teammate Maverick Vinales, dropping him to eighth place behind Franco Morbidelli.
Alex Marquez secured the tenth position, finishing just ahead of KTM's wild-card rider, Pol Espargaro.
GASGAS newcomer Pedro Acosta finished in 13th place, far behind the leaders.
As the race progressed, ominous clouds formed overhead, but the rain held off.
Following the decision of the leading riders to use soft rear tyres during the Sprint, all competitors opted for medium compound tyres on both the front and rear for the Grand Prix.
New tire pressure regulations for 2024 require riders to maintain a front tire pressure of at least 1.8 bar (down from 1.88) for 60% (up from 50%) of a Grand Prix race, or 30% during a Sprint race.
The consequence for not achieving this minimum in a Grand Prix will be a 16-second time penalty added after the race, or an 8-second penalty for a Sprint or short race.
Test riders Pol Espargaro (KTM), Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia), and Stefan Bradl (Honda) participated as wild-card entries this weekend, testing new prototype components for upcoming models.
Due to significant tire wear at the Sachsenring, Michelin is providing a strengthened rear tire design for the Red Bull Ring.
Fabio di Giannantonio suffered a dislocated left shoulder in an accident on Friday and has been deemed unfit to continue for the rest of the weekend.
The upcoming MotoGP race in Aragon is scheduled to begin later this month.
