Francesco Bagnaia secures the top starting spot for the 2024 Emilia Romagna MotoGP, setting a new lap record at the Misano circuit.
The current world champion almost managed to achieve the first 1m 29s lap time, missing it by just 0.031 seconds. Despite this, he secured the pole position with a 0.214-second lead over his competitor for the title, Jorge Martin.
Martin, who is currently ahead of Bagnaia by only seven points, encountered his teammate Franco Morbidelli at an inopportune moment during his last lap.
“We have a very similar speed, so it’s going to be a challenging race,” Martin noted, recognizing that he and Bagnaia appear to be leading the pack this weekend.
Enea Bastianini secures a spot in the front row, positioned in front of KTM riders Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta. Marco Bezzecchi from VR46 is placed at the far end of the second row.
