Can Ferrari surpass Red Bull and McLaren to claim the F1 championship?
Has Ferrari positioned itself as a contender for the F1 constructors' championship following their 1-2 finish at the US Grand Prix?
Ferrari's recent 1-2 victory at the United States Grand Prix has sparked hopes within the team of potentially breaking their 16-year drought for a Formula 1 championship title.
Charles Leclerc led his Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz to secure a dominant victory at the Circuit of the Americas, achieving Ferrari's first 1-2 finish in the United States in 18 years. The victory was particularly striking, as Leclerc took charge of the race right from the start, moving from fourth to first at Turn 1 with an exceptional start.

Ferrari executed their strategy flawlessly, an area where they have faced significant criticism in recent years. Sainz managed to overtake Max Verstappen by pitting earlier, ultimately finishing over 10 seconds in front of the Red Bull racer when the race concluded.
In a significant victory, Ferrari secured their fourth win of the 2024 season, bringing them within just eight points of overtaking Red Bull, who currently hold second place. However, Ferrari still find themselves 48 points behind McLaren.
With five grand prix races and two sprint events still to go, offering a potential 250 points, Leclerc is optimistic that Ferrari can surpass their competitors and finally secure the constructors' championship they've been aiming for.
The 27-year-old driver from Monaco expressed that their objective should be to secure the constructors' championship.
"It's a hopeful target, yet it's our purpose for being here. We'll crunch the numbers as we do each season, but until that time comes, the smartest move is to concentrate on ourselves and our performance, just as we did over the weekend."
The weekend has been highly successful for both the team and their standing in the constructors' championship. Our aim is to replicate this performance consistently, and with any luck, by the end of the year, our calculations will show that we've secured the constructors' championship.
Ferrari has seen promising advancements with their latest updates, and Sainz, who is about to race his last few events with the Scuderia before transitioning to Williams, believes that two specific upcoming circuits will be ideal for the SF-24.
"If I were to make a wager, I would suggest that Mexico and Vegas are favorable tracks judging by last year's performance," Sainz remarked. "My expectations are somewhat influenced by last year. However, this year appears to have some differences."
"If I had to wager, I'd say Qatar might be a challenging track for us. As for our performance in Abu Dhabi, I'm uncertain about what we can accomplish there. However, I'm hopeful that our speed will reappear before the season concludes, giving me another opportunity to compete."
In the drivers' championship, which Ferrari hasn't won since Kimi Raikkonen's victory in 2007, Leclerc remains theoretically in the running. However, with a 79-point gap to Verstappen and only 146 points left to earn in the upcoming races, he understands that overcoming this shortfall will be a significant challenge.
Charles Leclerc emphasized that if they perform flawlessly for the rest of the season and outperform McLaren, they believe they can still secure the constructors' championship.
"When it comes to the drivers' championship, I have a slightly different perspective. Even if we execute everything flawlessly, winning the title will still require some luck, and we can't depend solely on that. Securing the drivers' championship seems pretty unlikely, but I'll hold onto hope until it's no longer possible mathematically… though it's more challenging."
