Fabio Quartararo Turns Down Other Team Offers to Stay with Yamaha Amidst 2025 MotoGP Grid Shake-Up
Fabio Quartararo acknowledges he could have switched teams
Speculation about Fabio Quartararo's departure from Yamaha was rampant earlier in the year, and he has verified that he received a proposal "from a different team".
Earlier in the year, Fabio Quartararo chose to continue his partnership with Yamaha for the upcoming MotoGP seasons, a decision that seems to have been overshadowed by the recent surge in signings by Ducati, shifting focus away from the 2025 rider roster.
Quartararo's choice to remain with Yamaha started to influence the lineup for the 2025 season, with Aprilia showing interest in the 2021 world champion.
Had Quartararo switched to Aprilia, it could have paved the way for Jorge Martin to possibly step up as a factory rider for Yamaha.
Instead, Martin inked a deal with Aprilia following Ducati's decision to opt for Marc Marquez over him.
Concerning his career prospects, Quartararo has disclosed the reasons for selecting Yamaha.
"The French rider expressed his commitment to Yamaha, citing his belief in the project as the reason for renewing his contract, according to Corsedimoto."
I was presented with the chance to join a different team, yet my dedication to Yamaha is vast, and Yamaha has shown great loyalty to me in return.
"Additionally, my desires have been taken into account. Now, we must observe what unfolds in the upcoming two years. After that, a fresh decision will be necessary."
Yamaha has made significant progress in 2024, a shift that can be attributed to a change in mindset.
Quartararo noted, "An effective plan, a team of great individuals, a unique approach, where decisions were made swiftly instead of taking three or four months."
I was seeking individuals who possessed prior experience collaborating with different manufacturers and had familiarity with various motorcycles.
"Yamaha provided me with everything I requested… This was a compelling reason to remain."
