Fabio Quartararo Reaffirms Commitment to Yamaha Amidst Transfer Speculations and 2025 MotoGP Grid Shifts
Fabio Quartararo acknowledges "I had the chance to switch teams"
Rumors of Fabio Quartararo departing from Yamaha were rampant earlier this year, and he has revealed that "another team" extended an offer to him.
Earlier this year, Fabio Quartararo opted to remain with Yamaha for the next MotoGP seasons, a decision that has been overshadowed by Ducati's recent surge of activity concerning their 2025 rider line-up.
Quartararo's choice to remain with Yamaha started to influence the lineup for the 2025 season, especially since Aprilia had shown interest in the 2021 world champion.
If Quartararo had switched to Aprilia, it might have given Jorge Martin the chance to join the Yamaha factory team.
Martin opted to join Aprilia after Ducati informed him that they preferred Marc Marquez for their team.
However, when it comes to his future, Quartararo has explained why he decided to go with Yamaha.
The Frenchman, as reported by Corsedimoto, stated that he renewed his contract with Yamaha because he believes in the project.
"I was given the chance to join a different team, but my dedication to Yamaha is immense, and Yamaha has shown great loyalty to me as well."
"Additionally, my requests have been acknowledged. We need to observe how the upcoming two years unfold. After that, it will be necessary to make a new decision."
Yamaha has made significant strides in 2024, partly due to a shift in their mindset.
Quartararo commented, "We had a solid plan, a great team, a fresh mindset, and decisions were made swiftly, not over three or four months."
"I sought individuals who had collaborated with various manufacturers and were familiar with different bicycles."
"Yamaha provided me with all I requested, which was a compelling reason to remain with them."
