Fabio Di Giannantonio Reflects on Intense Racing at World Ducati Week: Aiming for Entertainment Amid Aggression
Fabio Di Giannantonio discusses the high-energy races at WDW, stating, "I aimed to entertain…" He suggests that perhaps some competitors were overly assertive.
Last weekend, Fabio Di Giannantonio participated in his second World Ducati Week event, ahead of his arrival at Silverstone for the British MotoGP set to start tomorrow.
Di Giannantonio secured a fifth-place finish after Francesco Bagnaia, Andrea Iannone, Marc Marquez, and his MotoGP colleague Marco Bezzecchi crossed the finish line ahead of him.
At a gathering uniting Ducati enthusiasts, Di Giannantonio expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "It was incredible, truly an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10."
I attended my second World Ducati Week, but this time it felt unique as my performance with the Ducati has significantly improved. As a result, there was a large group of supporters gathered in front of my garage, rooting for me.
"This year's World Ducati Week was truly enjoyable for me, thanks to the excellent organization. We unveiled the new Panigale, which is absolutely stunning. I'm a big fan."
During the race, the competition escalated as Marc Marquez collided with Nicolo Bulega while vying for the third position, resulting in Bulega, a WorldSBK competitor, being propelled into the gravel at the last turn.
Eager to emphasize that his sole purpose for attending was to entertain the audience rather than compete in the race with high seriousness, Di Giannantonio stated, "The objective is to deliver an entertaining performance, yet it's crucial to always consider the MotoGP championship, which holds greater significance."
"I attended with the intention of delivering an outstanding performance. That was my perspective. As for the others, I can't say."
"I was simply trying to entertain and engage the audience that was there in the stands observing us."
For the upcoming weekend, Di Giannantonio is optimistic about performing well once again at a track he holds in high regard.
"The Italian started off by saying, "I'm quite fond of this circuit. It ranks among my top picks throughout the season.
"In June, we had a brief training session here with the Panigale which we thoroughly enjoyed. I'm looking forward to performing well and having a great time with the races here."
