Fabio Di Giannantonio Battles Injury to Compete at Aragon MotoGP, Aiming to Perform at 60-70% Capacity
Fabio Di Giannantonio is operating at approximately 60-70% of his full capacity leading into the Aragon MotoGP, due to an incomplete recovery from a shoulder dislocation sustained at the Austrian GP.
Fabio Di Giannantonio is heading into this weekend's Aragon MotoGP while still on the mend from a shoulder dislocation he experienced during a practice session at the Austrian Grand Prix a fortnight ago.
For the first time since entering the Grand Prix scene in 2016, Di Giannantonio was not present at the start line in Austria. However, as he makes his comeback this weekend, the VR46 Ducati competitor continues to face some health challenges.
"Let's put it this way, I'm managing," Di Giannantonio expressed to MotoGP.com before the Aragon Grand Prix. "There's still discomfort in the shoulder, a bit of pain, particularly at night, and definitely, certain movements restrict my shoulder's complete range of motion.
"I truly put in my utmost effort while at home, genuinely dedicating myself — trust me, round the clock, each day — to prepare as thoroughly as I could for this phase."
"I genuinely feel prepared to compete. Of course, my physical condition might be around 60–70 percent, but let's wait and see. If I can ride without any discomfort, I believe we can perform well and pick up right where we left off."
Di Giannantonio will receive assistance from physical therapists and medical personnel at the track to deal with his injury. However, he won't fully understand the challenges he'll face this weekend until he actually gets on the bike.
"He mentioned that the team's physiotherapist is assisting them not only with managing injuries but also with maintaining their physical condition throughout the weekend."
"Therefore, we need to identify the source of discomfort, the issue with movement, and everything else concerning the bicycle."
"The only way to know for sure is by actually cycling, so we'll need to be patient before we discover the outcome. However, I believe we'll be able to handle it."
