Ducati’s Tardozzi Confident: Marc Marquez to Clinch Victory Before 2024 MotoGP Season Concludes
Davide Tardozzi Believes Marc Marquez Will Secure a Victory Before the 2024 MotoGP Season Ends
"Marc's incredible talent is clear to us"
Ducati's leader, Davide Tardozzi, firmly believes Marc Marquez is set to clinch a MotoGP victory "before the season concludes".
Eight-time world champion Marquez transitioned to riding Ducati equipment in 2024, having inked a contract to compete for Gresini on a GP23 motorcycle.
Marquez presently holds the fourth position in the rankings, trailing the leader by 83 points, and has secured nine podium finishes in both sprints and grand prix events through the initial 11 rounds of the ongoing season.
Nonetheless, Marquez's pursuit of another Grand Prix victory extends beyond a thousand days, despite nearing triumph in multiple races throughout the year.
Although he hasn't secured a first-place finish with Ducati so far, he has secured a contract with the factory team for 2025, and Tardozzi believes Marquez will claim a race victory before the end of the season.
"Tardozzi revealed to AS.com that their attention is now on winning the championship after Francesco Bagnaia secured a victory at the Austrian Grand Prix."
"Marc is set to join us in the upcoming year. Currently, our team consists of Pecco and Enea [Bastianini] as our leading riders, and we anticipate they will achieve the best outcomes possible."
That being said, we are fully aware and acknowledge that Marc possesses significant talent.
"We'll have the pleasure of his company next year, but before this season concludes, he's going to clinch a race victory."
Tardozzi is of the opinion that Marquez had a chance to compete for the top spot at the Red Bull Ring the previous Sunday if he hadn't been compelled to make a comeback.
The Gresini competitor inadvertently deactivated his bike's front ride height mechanism while attempting to heat his front tire en route to the starting grid. This mishap occurred because his tire was cooler than usual due to a last-minute rim swap, necessitated by a damaged wheel valve half an hour prior to the race beginning.
Off to a shaky start, he collided with Franco Morbidelli while heading toward Turn 1, falling from third place on the grid to 13th. Despite this, he managed to climb back up to fourth place.
"Tardozzi mentioned that he had previously cautioned that Marquez would be contending for the win come Sunday, and pointed out that during the latter half of the race, he indeed had the quickest pace on the circuit."
"Given a strong beginning, he had the potential to contend for a top spot, possibly even clinching first place."
