Ducati Pledges Full Support to Jorge Martin in MotoGP Title Chase Amid Aprilia Move
Ducati presents a definitive position on backing Jorge Martin in the championship race
Ducati reveals strategy for managing the current MotoGP championship contest
Ducati has pledged to back Jorge Martin in his quest for the MotoGP title, even though they are parting ways soon.
In 2025, Martin opted to join Aprilia after Ducati passed him over for their premier motorcycle, choosing Marc Marquez instead.
This implies that Martin from Pramac has a chance to secure the top position this season and could bring the prestigious #1 plate to a competing brand of Ducati in the upcoming year.
Ducati's sporting chief, Mauro Grassilli, shared with Motosprint that the idea of Martin clinching the championship has indeed crossed their minds: "Absolutely."
Overall, there's a chance that Jorge could succeed.
"Ducati will provide all possible support to Martin, as confirmed by Gigi Dall'Igna."
"Our backing for Pramac and the Spanish rider will continue without change, honoring the agreements and professional conduct."
Last time, during the race at the Sachsenring, Martin was overtaken in the MotoGP championship standings.
Next weekend at Silverstone, he'll be coming in second, trailing champion Pecco Bagnaia by 10 points.
Ducati is confident that they will clinch the championship this year, with either Bagnaia, Martin, or Marquez expected to secure the title.
In the upcoming season, Marquez will team up with Bagnaia, both donning red, as Martin departs
Grassilli described the loss of Martin, Enea Bastianini, Marco Bezzecchi, and the Pramac team as "Significant. Absolutely."
Describing it solely through words is challenging: beyond the functional professional interaction, elements like camaraderie and the personal touch play a significant role.
Among the three items mentioned, the first one will be dropped, while the second and third will stay. As for the three names provided, none will remain, regrettably.
"In mapping out what was to come, there was just a single spot open. As a result, two participants were understandably unhappy."
"Emphasizing that Jorge, to reiterate, will be given the utmost support and focus."
Regarding the query on whether the challenging events of 2023 influenced any decisions for Enea, the answer is a definitive no. Not in the slightest.
"In regards to Pramac, efforts were made to retain him on our side: Claudio Domenicali personally got involved. We persisted until the very end, but to no avail."
Bezzecchi from VR46 has decided to team up with Martin, becoming part of Aprilia's official duo in 2025.
"Grassilli expressed his deep sympathy for him as well," he stated.
Marco was evidently seeking specific types of responses, which we failed to give him. Ultimately, it was a matter of timing.
"Hence, his decision to pursue this career path is clearly comprehensible to us."
