Ducati and Gresini Racing Strengthen Ties: A Partnership Extended Through 2026 Amid MotoGP Evolution
Ducati renews partnership with Gresini Racing for MotoGP through 2026
Gresini Racing will continue using Desmosedicis bikes until the conclusion of the 1000cc MotoGP period.
Ducati has finalized its slimmed-down MotoGP roster for 2025 by officially bringing Fermin Aldeguer onboard with Gresini, while also revealing a fresh two-year agreement with the independent team.
Title contenders on Honda bikes, featuring Sete Gibernau and Marco Melandri during the initial phase of the ‘MotoGP’ period, Gresini subsequently transitioned to Aprilia’s official team between 2015 and 2021.
In a sorrowful turn of events, Fausto Gresini passed away in February 2021 due to complications arising from Covid. Despite this, his team persevered and entered into a fresh partnership with satellite Ducati, leading to a poignant win in the first round of 2022.
Bastianini secured three additional victories, finishing third in the world championship standings. Following this, Fabio di Giannantonio clinched another win for Gresini with the Desmosedici at Qatar the previous year, marking the team's fifth.
Marc Marquez's teaming up with his younger brother for the 2024 season ensured that the team remained a focal point of attention.
The #93 is set to depart and take over Bastianini's position in the factory team next year. This change coincides with VR46 stepping in to replace Pramac as Ducati's designated satellite team. Meanwhile, Gresini has secured a renewal to continue operating Desmosedicis until the conclusion of the 1000cc era.
"Gigi Dall'Igna, the general manager of Ducati Corse, expressed his pleasure in continuing the collaboration with the Gresini family up to the year 2026."
"Under Nadia Padovani's leadership, the group has reached significant achievements lately, demonstrating their full capabilities and expertise."
Gresini Racing has successfully guided numerous racers, including quite a few younger ones, to victory.
"This is the reason we are confident that this team is perfectly suited to greet Fermín Aldeguer and to support him throughout his inaugural season in MotoGP."
"Once more, a big thank you to Nadia and the entire Gresini family. Eagerly anticipating further thrilling moments together!"
Alex Marquez, who has signed with Gresini, and Aldeguer, who has agreed to terms with Ducati, are set to be Gresini's team members for the coming two seasons.
Starting from 2027, MotoGP will transition to utilizing engines that have a capacity of 850cc.
