Ducati and Gresini Extend Partnership Through 2026: A New Era for MotoGP with Aldeguer and Marquez
Ducati has renewed its agreement with the Gresini MotoGP team through 2026, ensuring that the team will continue using Desmosedici motorcycles until the conclusion of the 1000cc MotoGP period.
Ducati finalized its smaller 2025 MotoGP roster by confirming Fermin Aldeguer for the Gresini team and revealed a fresh two-year agreement with the satellite team.
Achieving second place in the championship with riders Sete Gibernau and Marco Melandri during the early MotoGP years, Gresini Racing transitioned to become the official Aprilia team from 2015 until 2021.
In February 2021, Fausto Gresini sadly passed away due to complications from Covid-19. However, his team persevered, securing a new partnership with Ducati's satellite team and achieving a heartfelt win in the first race of 2022.
Bastianini secured three more victories, which helped him finish third in the world championship standings. Meanwhile, Fabio di Giannantonio grabbed another win for Gresini with a fifth Desmosedici triumph in Qatar last year.
The 2024 addition of Marc Marquez and his younger brother to the team has kept them at the center of attention.
Next year, rider #93 will depart and take Bastianini's spot in the factory team. At the same time, VR46 will step in for Pramac as Ducati's official satellite team. Meanwhile, Gresini has secured an extended contract to continue using Desmosedici bikes until the 1000cc era concludes.
"We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with the Gresini family through 2026," stated Gigi Dall’Igna, the general manager of Ducati Corse.
Nadia Padovani's team has accomplished significant milestones in the past few years, demonstrating remarkable strength and expertise.
“Gresini Racing's team helped various riders, including some quite young ones, achieve victories.”
“This is the reason we believe this team is perfect for introducing Fermín Aldeguer and supporting him in his first MotoGP season.
"I want to express my gratitude once more to Nadia and everyone in the Gresini family. I'm eager for the thrilling moments we will share ahead!"
Alex Marquez, who is signed with Gresini, and Aldeguer, who has a contract with Ducati, will be the riders representing Gresini for the upcoming two years.
From 2027 onwards, MotoGP will transition to using new 850cc engines.
