Daniel Ricciardo Confronts Potential Farewell: Embracing Peace as Red Bull Decision Nears
Daniel Ricciardo feels calm about the potential conclusion of his F1 career as he awaits Red Bull's verdict, with the Singapore Grand Prix possibly marking his last race.
Daniel Ricciardo has expressed contentment with the possibility of his Formula 1 career concluding after the Singapore Grand Prix.
Rumors have swirled regarding Ricciardo's career prospects, as Red Bull appears poised to introduce a new lineup for the VCARB at the United States Grand Prix.
Liam Lawson is anticipated to fill in for Ricciardo, teaming up with Yuki Tsunoda for the upcoming race at COTA next month.
Though an official announcement is pending, the events following the Singapore Grand Prix hint that Sunday could have marked Ricciardo's final appearance.
Following the event, the Australian was visibly moved, shedding tears during his interview with F1TV.
Ricciardo devoted a considerable period to staying in his VCARB Formula 1 vehicle, contemplating what might be his last stint behind the wheel before exiting.
In a conversation with Sky Sports following the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Ricciardo was open and honest about the circumstances.
"Ricciardo expressed serenity regarding the situation, acknowledging, "Sooner or later, it's inevitable for everyone. I made an effort to return to Red Bull, but unfortunately, it didn't pan out. I must also consider, what is my ultimate goal and pursuit in this context?"
"I believe that once you've tasted the euphoria of victory, battling for the 10th position only holds appeal for a limited time. There's simply no substitute for that sensation, and if achieving it becomes increasingly difficult, I think that's the reality."
"This year, I managed to achieve moments of potential greatness, but consistently performing at that level every week proved to be more challenging. Whether that's due to being 35 or the increasing level of competition is uncertain."
Ricciardo faced challenges throughout the weekend in Singapore.
He was eliminated in the first qualifying round and ended up last, but managed to secure the fastest lap following a late pit stop.
Ricciardo acknowledged the need to be ready for the possibility of Singapore being his final Formula 1 race.
"Ricciardo noted, “It’s essentially been a battle every single race. Naturally, I wished the weekend had unfolded more favorably.”
"I have to brace myself for the possibility of this being the end."
