Dani Pedrosa has shared that chronic fatigue affected him as well
Throughout his MotoGP career, Dani Pedrosa struggled with ongoing fatigue.
The ailment likewise affected Casey Stoner, who made headlines by retiring at a notably young age in 2012.
However, Pedrosa has now disclosed that he endured difficulties during the last three years of his racing career.
He mentioned to Motorsport that, similar to Stoner, he too experienced persistent fatigue during his final years in MotoGP.
"In the final two or three years of my career, I was managing it."
“I prolonged the situation until I understood that I was stuck and had to quit racing. It took roughly three years for me to get back on course.”
Pedrosa holds the record for being the most accomplished rider who has never secured a MotoGP championship title.
He secured 31 victories in grand prix races, 31 first-place starts, and appeared on the podium 112 times
However, he did not secure a championship title, instead ending up as the second-place finisher on three occasions.
Pedrosa faced numerous injuries over the course of his career.
"We tallied up the entire duration of my inactivity caused by injuries," he mentioned. "Considering all the races I was unable to compete in because of this, we estimated that I would have missed approximately 17 or 18 Grand Prix events, which equates to an entire season."
"When I retired, I had severe issues with my collarbone; it was falling apart."
“A section of it was severely injured; the bone was unable to mend by itself.
"It wouldn't harden and couldn't endure the pressure I applied. It was a lengthy process, but with the help of some stem cell specialists, I managed to resolve it."
At 38 years old, Pedrosa works as a test rider for KTM.
This season, he already made a remarkable impression during a wildcard race at Jerez, showcasing his enduring skill and leaving his competitors in awe.
