Confident Ducati Boss Tardozzi Predicts Marquez’s Race Win Before 2024 MotoGP Season Concludes
Davide Tardozzi believes that Marc Marquez will secure a victory before the conclusion of the 2024 MotoGP season.
"We recognize that Marc possesses immense potential," he stated.
Ducati's leader, Davide Tardozzi, firmly believes that Marc Marquez will secure a victory in a MotoGP race "before the season concludes".
Eight-time world champion Marquez will be riding a Ducati in 2024 after securing a contract to race with Gresini on a GP23.
Marquez holds the fourth position in the rankings, trailing by 83 points from the top spot. Throughout the initial 11 rounds of this season, he has achieved nine podium finishes in both sprints and grand prix races.
Marquez is still waiting for his next grand prix victory after 1000 days, despite nearly winning multiple races this year.
Although he hasn't yet secured a victory with Ducati, he has secured a contract for 2025, and Tardozzi believes Marquez will achieve a race win before the season concludes.
Tardozzi mentioned to AS.com that their current priority is the championship after Francesco Bagnaia secured a win at the Austrian Grand Prix.
"Marc is set to join us next year. Currently, our main riders are Pecco and Enea Bastianini, and we are counting on them to achieve the best results possible."
“Nonetheless, we are fully aware of Marc's significant potential.”
"We'll have the pleasure of seeing him in action next year, but he will secure a victory before this season concludes."
Tardozzi thinks Marquez might have contended for victory at the Red Bull Ring last Sunday if he hadn't needed to make a comeback during the race.
The Gresini team rider unintentionally deactivated his front ride height device while heading to the starting grid, as he was attempting to warm up his front tire. This tire was cooler than usual because a damaged wheel valve necessitated a rim replacement just 30 minutes prior to the race.
At the start, he found himself battling and collided with Franco Morbidelli as they approached Turn 1. This incident caused him to fall from his initial third position on the grid down to 13th place, but he managed to fight his way back to finish in fourth place.
Tardozzi mentioned that he had cautioned everyone that Marquez would compete for the win on Sunday, and noted that Marquez was indeed the quickest on the track during the second half of the race.
"If he had gotten off to a strong start, he might have contended for a podium finish or even a win."
