Bastianini Confident in Aragon Return, Eyes Victory in Tight MotoGP Title Race
Victorious Aragon MotoGP champion Enea Bastianini expresses readiness and assurance for battle
Enea Bastianini: 'All in all, I feel assured and prepared to vie for the win'
In the most recent MotoGP event held at Aragon in 2022, Enea Bastianini narrowly secured a win over Francesco Bagnaia by a mere 0.042 seconds, following an exhilarating final-lap showdown.
Bastianini, who previously competed on last year's model for Gresini, is making a comeback this weekend with Bagnaia at Ducati's official team.
The Beast is currently experiencing the most successful streak of his MotoGP career, having secured three Grand Prix podium finishes, of which one was a victory, in the last four races.
However, he trails the current champion Bagnaia by 61 points and Jorge Martin by 55, indicating Bastianini must replicate his Silverstone success to transform the competition into a three-contender battle for the title.
"It's great to return to the races at Aragon. I've consistently performed well on this track, and it ranks high among my preferred circuits," Bastianini expressed.
"Reflecting on our previous race here in 2022, this year introduces a fresh asphalt surface. I'm curious to see the outcome, yet I remain optimistic and prepared to contend for the win."
Bastianini faces a challenge as Bagnaia is currently performing at his peak, securing victories in six out of the last eight Grand Prix races and coming in third in the remainder.
Bagnaia matched his own best season win total of seven Grand Prix victories from 2023 in the recent Austrian race, with nine more races yet to unfold.
Marc Marquez was the most recent competitor to achieve the remarkable feat of securing eight or more victories in a single season, having triumphed in 12 races back in
However, Bagnaia hasn't performed as well in Sprint races this year, which is the primary reason Pramac's rider Martin trails by just five points.
Bagnaia successfully defended his position against Marquez to secure his inaugural MotoGP victory at Aragon in 2021, only to experience a close loss to Bastianini the next year.
"Bagnaia expressed great satisfaction with the team's performance in the recent races, yet emphasized that with much of the season ahead, it's important to remain humble and focused."
"I really enjoy the Aragon circuit, and it's great to be back competing here. MotorLand holds special memories for me as the venue where I clinched my inaugural MotoGP victory. In recent races, I've consistently performed well here."
"Regardless, it's essential that we maintain our concentration and persist in our efforts, adhering to the strategy we've employed in the recent Grand Prix events."
Bagnaia's triumph in Austria marked his 25th MotoGP win, tying him with Kevin Schwantz for the 10th spot on the historic list of most wins in the premier class.
