Francesco Bagnaia secures first place in the Austrian MotoGP Sprint, crossing the finish line four seconds ahead of Jorge Martin, while Aleix Espargaro grabs the third spot. This marks Bagnaia's third Sprint triumph of the year, following successes at Mugello and Assen.
Martin kept up his speed, slightly quicker by a couple of tenths than Bagnaia, yet the official Ducati racer was ahead by four seconds with one lap remaining.
The current major contest on the circuit is for the fourth position. Enea Bastianini has overtaken Jack Miller to claim it, however, Franco Morbidelli and Brad Binder are also vying for the spot.
The speed has noticeably decreased. Bagnaia clocked in at 1:30.6 on his latest lap, while Martin managed a 1:30.4.
Following his crash, Marquez heads into the pits, marking a disappointing day for Gresini, especially considering Alex Marquez's crash earlier on. Bagnaia continues to hold a 4.5-second advantage ahead of Martin.
Marquez's accident has resulted in Bagnaia extending his lead to 4.5 seconds over Martin, who is now 1.9 seconds in front of Aleix Espargaro, who has moved up to third place on the podium.
Marquez falls during the third turn. He was narrowing the distance to Bagnaia, but now he's out of the race. Although he manages to remount, he's no longer in the running for a win.
Marquez delivers an impressive performance, shaving off 0.3 seconds from Bagnaia's time, who records his slowest race lap at 29.9 seconds. They are now 1.4 seconds apart.
Following his penalty, Martin has managed to position himself slightly ahead of Aleix Espargaro, while Bagnaia leads Marquez by a margin of 1.6 seconds with only seven laps remaining.
At the start of the eighth lap, Martin serves his penalty, falling to third place. He is now trailing the leader by four seconds, with Marquez 2.5 seconds ahead of him.
Bagnaia has extended his lead to 0.6 seconds, while Martin is yet to serve his penalty. Marquez remains in the race, trailing by 1.5 seconds from the front.
Bagnaia remains in the lead ahead of Martin, yet the #89 is still required to serve his penalty.
Martin received a penalty requiring an extra lap for failing to slow down by one second after shortcutting the chicane on the second lap.
Bagnaia remains in front, with Martin keeping up with his speed. They both clocked in at 1:29.3 seconds this round.
On that lap, Bagnaia and Martin clocked in at 1:29.0, outpacing Marquez by 0.3 seconds.
Bagnaia continues in the lead, followed closely by Martin, with Marquez trailing slightly behind. Aleix Espargaro finds himself somewhat isolated in fourth position.
On the second lap, Bagnaia sets the quickest lap time of the race, although he hasn't managed to distance himself from Martin. Marquez is also closely following.
