Bagnaia Rebukes Marquez’s ‘Didn’t See’ Claim After Aragon MotoGP Collision

Francesco Bagnaia: Alex Marquez “deliberately aimed for contact, impossible he didn’t notice me”

Francesco Bagnaia asserts that Alex Marquez “intended to make contact” during their Aragon MotoGP collision.

Defending MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia has rejected Alex Marquez’s claim that the Gresini rider "didn't notice him" during their collision at Aragon.

The Italian mentioned that information indicates Marquez kept his throttle open during the clash, which took place as they competed for third position near the end of the grand prix, and implied that the Spaniard attempted to initiate contact.

Bagnaia expressed to MotoGP.com that his perspective aligns with the general consensus among those who have a standard outlook on racing, as the events were quite evident.

"I had more speed and was ahead. I approached the corner without cutting him off because I was aware of his presence. However, my speed allowed me to pass him easily."

"As soon as I entered the next corner, which is corner 13, I heard his engine revving up. He was accelerating, clearly trying to make contact."

"I examined the data… The rider kept the throttle open between 60 percent and 40 percent right up until the crash. This behavior seems quite unusual to me."

When informed that Alex Marquez mentioned he was unable to see Bagnaia, the official Ducati racer replied:

"I believe it's inconceivable that he didn't notice me. I was directly in front of him before altering my path."

The FIM Stewards decided not to take any additional measures, concluding that 'neither rider was mainly at fault for the incident'.

An ailing Bagnaia, who is now trailing title leader Jorge Martin by 23 points, has only five days to recuperate before the Friday practice session at his home race in Misano.

"My condition isn't great, to be honest. I'm experiencing significant neck pain," he shared. "However, it could be a lot worse, so I'm managing."
