Alonso’s Call to Action: ‘Work Harder, Talk Less’ After Aston Martin’s Spanish GP Disappointment
Fernando Alonso has advised Aston Martin to intensify their efforts and reduce chatter following a letdown at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso has urged Aston Martin to "increase their efforts" and "reduce their commentary" after a disappointing performance at the F1 Spanish Grand Prix.
Aston Martin left the Spanish Grand Prix empty-handed, with their performance taking a significant downturn.
Despite not kicking off the year with the same level of success as the previous one, the team has experienced a significant decline in performance even after rolling out a number of significant improvements.
At the beginning of the race, Sauber's Valtteri Bottas managed to surpass Alonso, surprising many due to the Swiss team's previous challenges.
Discussing Aston Martin's performance in Barcelona with a group of journalists, including Crash.net, Alonso expressed his disappointment, stating, "I am somewhat disheartened because we failed to secure any points. It's fair that we didn't get any points as we lacked pace throughout the weekend.
During the competition, the challenge was immense. The excessive sliding around the bends not only made it tough but also wore out the tires significantly, presenting a dual dilemma.
"Our speed isn't up to par, and we're experiencing significant wear and tear. Overall, it's been an extended and challenging race. We must improve going forward."
Alonso is worried that Aston Martin will face challenges in the upcoming races.
Given the consecutive races in Austria and Silverstone, Alonso expresses concern over Aston Martin's performance potentially staying below expectations.
"It's exasperating, yet there's no action you can take at this moment. Thus, your focus shifts to Austria right when you spot the chequered flag, contemplating on the changes you can make," he further mentioned.
"However, I anticipate it will also be challenging due to its similarities to Barcelona, especially due to the prolonged turns. This suggests we're in for another difficult weekend, particularly at Silverstone, it seems."
"We mustn't allow ourselves to become overly agitated. Now is the moment to increase our efforts, to communicate less, and to achieve more. This is our desired course of action."
Aston Martin currently holds the fifth position in the F1 constructors' standings with 44 points, maintaining a 20-point lead over RB.
