Alex Rins Signs New Monster Yamaha Contract: Eyes on Future Technical Improvements for 2025-2026 MotoGP Seasons
Alex Rins: “I finalized the deal this morning” | TC “moving forward”
Alex Rins discusses his fresh Monster Yamaha agreement for the years 2025 and 2026.
Despite there being little uncertainty, Alex Rins officially extended his contract with Monster Yamaha on Thursday at Silverstone, just before the news was made public.
The ex-Suzuki and LCR Honda racer dedicated his summer break to recovering from the injuries he sustained at Assen. Despite having 'a few other possibilities,' his primary goal was always to secure a new contract with Yamaha.
"Rins mentioned that discussions with Yamaha were already underway before the accident, and he signed the contract this morning!"
"As soon as we got the document from Japan, we completed the task here with the help of all the team members in the hospitality department."
"Undoubtedly, I feel fortunate. I'm thrilled to keep collaborating with Yamaha. They are putting in a significant amount of effort, just like I am, to enhance the bike and get back to the top, where we rightfully belong."
"We have another two years to collaborate and enhance the bike. Right from the start, we made progress compared to the initial test of the season. So, we are moving in the right direction."
Even with technical allowances this season, Yamaha and Honda are still significantly trailing behind the European manufacturers: Ducati, Aprilia, and KTM.
When questioned about Yamaha's upcoming plans, Rins responded: "A definitive area for enhancement is the electronics."
"We made progress with the aerodynamics before the summer break, and now we need to advance the electronics."
"We primarily need to enhance the traction control system," Rins explained, emphasizing that it is the overall system that requires improvement, rather than focusing on a particular aspect.
With Rins' contract finalized, all ten factory MotoGP positions for 2025 are now confirmed.
