Alex Rins Secures Monster Yamaha Contract for 2025-2026, Eyes Major Electronics Overhaul
Alex Rins Confirms: “Contract Signed Today” | A Move to TC “A Progressive Step”
Alex Rins discusses his fresh agreement with Monster Yamaha for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Despite there being little question about it, Alex Rins finalized his contract extension with Monster Yamaha on Thursday at Silverstone, shortly before the official announcement was made.
The ex-Suzuki and LCR Honda racer dedicated his summer hiatus to recovering from the injuries he sustained at Assen. Despite having 'a few other possibilities,' his primary goal was consistently to secure a new contract with Yamaha.
"Prior to the incident, discussions were already in progress with Yamaha, and I officially signed the documents today!" Rins revealed.
"As soon as we got the document from Japan, we executed it here in the hospitality sector with the entire team involved."
"Undoubtedly, I feel fortunate. It brings me great joy to keep collaborating with Yamaha. Both of us are putting in significant effort to enhance the motorcycle, aiming to reclaim our leading position and reach the heights we rightfully deserve."
"Continuing collaboration with them for another two years to enhance the bike. Right from the start, we made progress compared to our initial season test. Thus, we are making headway."
Even with the advantage of technical allowances this season, Yamaha and Honda are still significantly trailing behind the European manufacturers: Ducati, Aprilia, and KTM.
When questioned about Yamaha's future direction, Rins stated, "Clearly, an area we must enhance is the electronics."
"Before the summer hiatus, we made progress in aerodynamics, and currently, we need to advance further in our electronic systems."
"Enhancing the TC, or traction control, is our primary focus," Rins elaborated, emphasizing that the overall "system" requires modification, not just a particular aspect.
Rins' agreement secures the last of the ten official MotoGP positions for the 2025 season.
