Alex Rins Returns for Silverstone: Quartararo ‘Ready to Go’ as MotoGP Resumes
Alex Rins makes a comeback for Silverstone, while Quartararo is ‘prepared to race’
Alex Rins: “It’s great to return… I’m in good shape.”
Following his absence from the German Grand Prix because of hand injuries sustained at Assen, Alex Rins is set to make his comeback to MotoGP at Silverstone this weekend.
Rins had surgery for the fractures he got during the Dutch event, and he has spent the summer break recovering to be fit for the second part of his first season with Monster Yamaha.
In one of the most unforgettable moments of his career, Rins, riding for Suzuki, narrowly defeated Marc Marquez in a photo finish during the 2019 British race.
"It's great to return after the recovery phase. I'm in good spirits. The three-week break allowed me to get ready for this weekend. I took the opportunity to resume my training, so I come to the UK prepared to ride the M1," stated Rins, who is still awaiting official confirmation of his stay with Yamaha for 2025.
"I’m excited about Silverstone. It’s one of my favorite tracks, making it a great spot for a strong return. This event is also significant for Monster Energy, and the 75th anniversary celebration brings additional excitement as we begin the latter part of the season."
Rins, his teammate Fabio Quartararo, and wild-card rider Remy Gardner will compete against their opponents sporting a unique retro design on Sunday.
Quartararo, currently at the top of the 'Japanese Cup' standings despite being 15th in the overall rankings and having achieved a best grand prix finish of seventh this season, previously won the Silverstone MotoGP in 2021.
“I’ve had some downtime with loved ones, and now I’m prepared to tackle the latter part of the season,” Quartararo stated. “I dedicated a significant portion of the break to training as well.”
"There are still 11 rounds remaining, and we will be putting in a lot of effort over the upcoming months to make progress. I'm excited and prepared! Silverstone is a great venue that I enjoy, and it's a significant event for both Monster Energy and MotoGP."
"I believe the supporters are going to love the unique designs for the 75th anniversary."
