Alex Rins Re-Signs with Yamaha: Extending Partnership Through 2026 to Boost MotoGP Title Ambitions
Confirmed: Alex Rins Extends Contract with Yamaha
Alex Rins will continue to race for Yamaha in MotoGP during the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Yamaha has announced that Alex Rins will continue to race with Fabio Quartararo for the factory Monster team during the 2025 and 2026 MotoGP seasons.
Rins, who has previously secured victories with Suzuki and later with LCR Honda, began this season with Yamaha under a one-year contract.
Despite achieving a top Grand Prix result of only 13th this year and being absent from the German event due to an injury, Rins is regarded as essential to Yamaha's long-term strategy, which emphasizes bike development. This is attributed to his previous accomplishments, exceptional dedication, meticulousness, and vast experience.
Following a surgery right before the summer holidays, Rins is back to racing at Silverstone this weekend.
Yamaha Racing's managing director, Lin Jarvis, expressed his pleasure in revealing that Álex Rins will remain part of the Yamaha factory team for an additional two years.
"We have expressed a firm commitment to reclaiming the top position in the MotoGP championship. To reach this objective, we have brought on new team members, reorganized our internal structures, and broadened our technical collaborations with external partners."
"We have also pledged to increase our involvement by establishing a separate second Factory Team in 2025. Now, our focus is on securing the riders we need to attain the outcomes we and they are eager to achieve."
Álex extending his contract for another two years is a crucial aspect of our MotoGP Project strategy.
"Álex is not just a highly skilled and quick rider, but he also possesses technical expertise, works diligently, and is a true collaborator. The partnership between Álex and Fabio provides Yamaha with the assurance that, together, they can enhance the bike development initiative."
With the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team roster for the 2025-26 season now confirmed, we are eagerly anticipating the upcoming 11 races of the 2024 season with Álex and Fabio, remaining fully dedicated to the challenges ahead.
Rins expressed his joy, stating, "I'm thrilled to keep collaborating with Yamaha for another two years. I want to extend my gratitude to the team and the leadership in Iwata for believing in me."
"Our objective is straightforward: to return Yamaha to its rightful place, competing for championships."
"From the very beginning, I have observed Yamaha's commitment to progress and their dedication of resources to achieve this goal. Consequently, through our efforts, we have made significant strides this season towards that aim, and we intend to maintain this momentum in the coming years."
“I’m thrilled to continue contributing my MotoGP expertise and strong work ethic to a team that has consistently demonstrated a vigorous collective effort and will persist in doing so.”
The factory team lineup has been finalized, but there are still two M1 positions open for 2025 with the new Pramac Yamaha initiative.
