**”Alex Marquez Denies Intentional Collision Claims Amid Aragon MotoGP Controversy”**
Alex Marquez refutes claims: “I would never intentionally collide with another competitor”
Alex Marquez denies accusations that he 'intentionally' collided with Francesco Bagnaia, stating: 'Such actions are neither in my nature nor in the nature of this sport.'
Alex Marquez has issued a response after encountering some remarks following Sunday’s Aragon MotoGP incident involving Francesco Bagnaia.
The duo experienced a severe crash when Bagnaia tried to overtake the Gresini racer for the third position, following Marquez's wide turn.
The FIM Stewards concluded that no additional measures were necessary because they found that neither rider was mainly at fault.
However, Marquez appears displeased with Bagnaia's remarks implying that the Gresini rider maintained acceleration instead of steering clear of a collision.
"As I approached the next corner, which was turn 13, I could hear his engine revving up. He was accelerating. It was clear he was attempting to make contact," Bagnaia explained to MotoGP.com.
"I wanted to review the data… It showed that he maintained 60 percent throttle and 40 percent of it open up until the crash. This behavior seems very unusual for a rider, in my opinion."
On Monday, Marquez shared a post on social media:
"Having reviewed a few comments, I want to clarify the following points:"
"I would never intentionally collide with another racer, and I will never agree to be accused of doing so. It's not in my nature, nor is it a part of the essence of this sport."
"The conversation I had with Pecco yesterday is what matters most to me, and as far as I'm concerned, the matter is resolved."
"It's now time for me to take a break and recuperate so I can be in top shape for Misano."
Marquez and Bagnaia were lucky to escape without major harm and are set to return to the track at Misano this weekend.
Marc Marquez, Alex's brother and teammate, claimed victory in the Aragon race. Meanwhile, Jorge Martin secured second place, extending his lead over Bagnaia to 23 points.
