**”Alex Marquez Denies Deliberate Collision with Francesco Bagnaia: ‘It’s Not in My DNA or the Sport’s'”**
Alex Marquez denies accusations of intentionally colliding with Francesco Bagnaia, stating that deliberate crashes are against his principles and the ethos of the sport.
Alex Marquez has issued a response after coming across certain remarks following his encounter with Francesco Bagnaia during the Aragon MotoGP on Sunday.
The two riders were caught in a serious crash when Bagnaia tried to overtake the Gresini competitor for the third position, following Marquez's wide turn.
The FIM Stewards concluded that 'no additional measures' were necessary as 'neither rider was deemed primarily accountable'.
However, Marquez appears discontent with Bagnaia's remarks implying that the Gresini racer maintained acceleration instead of steering clear of a collision.
Bagnaia explained to MotoGP.com that the moment he approached the next turn, he could hear the other rider accelerating, indicating that the rider was attempting to make contact.
"I wanted to examine that data… He maintained a throttle position of 60 percent open, 40 percent closed up until the moment he crashed. I find this quite unusual behavior for a rider."
On Monday, Marquez shared a post on social media:
"Having reviewed several statements, I want to clarify the following points:"
"I would never intentionally collide with another rider, and I refuse to be accused of doing so. Such behavior is against my principles and the principles of this sport."
"The key takeaway for me is the discussion I had with Pecco yesterday, and as far as I'm concerned, the matter is resolved."
"Now I need to take some time to relax and heal so that I can be in top shape for Misano."
Marquez and Bagnaia were lucky to escape major injuries and are set to return to racing at Misano this weekend.
Marc Marquez, Alex's brother and teammate, clinched victory in the Aragon race. Jorge Martin secured second place, extending his lead over Bagnaia to 23 points.
