Verstappen Edges Out Russell for Pole in Thrilling United States Sprint Qualifying
Max Verstappen secures the top spot for the United States Grand Prix sprint race, outpacing George Russell.
Max Verstappen emerged as the top contender in the sprint qualifying, edging out George Russell for the pole position by a mere 0.012 seconds.
The session at the Circuit of the Americas was closely contested, with just 0.2 seconds separating the top five drivers in the sprint qualifying.

The Mercedes pair led the pack in SQ3, with Russell securing the initial top spot.
Lewis Hamilton was poised to surpass it following an impressive Sector 1, however, he erred entering Turn 12.
Subsequently, Russell's leading time remained unbeaten until Verstappen managed to surpass it.
On Saturday, the Dutch rider aims to secure another sprint win to his resume.
Following the qualifying round, Verstappen remarked, "It was a successful day for us. Sprint Qualifying is inherently challenging because it's hard to gauge the extent to which you can exert yourself."
Throughout the entire day, the car performed flawlessly. It feels great to be in the lead again after such a long time, I'm really pleased with how things went today.
"This circuit is incredible to navigate. Featuring fresh pavement, a touch of the old, along with the uneven surfaces, it presents a challenge yet remains enjoyable."
Russell clinched the runner-up position, surpassing Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
In the race for the F1 championship, Lando Norris clinched fourth place, with Carlos Sainz finishing in sixth position.
Completing the list of the top ten were Nico Hulkenberg, followed by Hamilton, Kevin Magnussen, Yuki Tsunoda, and Franco Colapinto.
In a surprising turn of events during SQ1, Oscar Piastri was unexpectedly knocked out early, securing him the 16th spot on the grid for the sprint race.
Piastri's fastest lap was nullified because he was judged to have gone beyond the boundaries of the track at the second-to-last turn.
He will begin in front of Esteban Ocon, Alex Albon, Valtteri Bottas, and Zhou Guanyu.
