Pedro Acosta Seeks Crucial 0.7s Improvement Amid Unique KTM Setup Challenges
Pedro Acosta: "We're facing minor yet crucial issues – I must shave off 0.7 seconds."
"Our approach involves five distinct configurations. Essentially, everyone opts for a unique setup."
Pedro Acosta has voiced significant concerns with his RC16, detailing that every KTM rider opts for distinct setup configurations.
Newcomer Acosta stunned both competitors and experts with his explosive debut in the MotoGP season.
Heading into this weekend's Indonesian MotoGP, his performance has declined, yet he remains in sixth place in the rankings.
Among the competitors, KTM's own Brad Binder, finishing fifth, stands as the highest-ranked rider not riding a Ducati.
"I'm pretty satisfied with the motorcycle. I just need to shave off 0.7 seconds, but everything else is good," stated Tech3 GASGAS competitor Acosta in Mandalika.
He clarified, "There are numerous minor issues we face, yet they hold significant importance."
"In the current MotoGP age, it's all about the nuances."
"By addressing two or three, your competitive edge will significantly increase. We have identified one."
However, Acosta does not represent the views of all KTM riders.
Each rider, including Pol Espargaro for his wildcard appearance, customized their bike setup, Acosta noted, which could complicate troubleshooting efforts.
"He mentioned, "I'm considering my own situation. We possess five unique configurations. Essentially, it's rare for anyone to utilize the identical one.
"I am concentrating on my issues."
Acosta mentioned regarding his progress this year, "I've gotten a better grasp of the electronic aspects. That's the toughest part when it comes to MotoGP.
"It's beneficial as it enables me to be more accurate and get to the main point sooner."
"Furthermore, there's uniformity. Our speed remains steady among the leading five."
"Regardless of whether it's P1, qualifying, or during the race itself, our speed remains consistently good."
"For a newcomer, maintaining uniformity is crucial. It's essential that the motorcycle remains unchanged, avoiding frequent modifications."
He maintains an optimistic outlook on his prospects this year, stating, "Our bike is well-adjusted, which allows us to achieve high speeds in various conditions."
