Mini Cooper Cabrio 2025: Ein umfangreiches Facelift für das Kult-Cabriolet
The Mini Cooper Convertible is gearing up for a significant makeover in 2025, ensuring fans of open-air driving have something to look forward to. Amid a declining market for convertibles, particularly the compact variants, Mini stands out by continuing to offer an affordable option with the upcoming substantial refresh of its convertible hatchback. The revamped model will provide a choice among three combustion engines.
The heritage brand also appears to be quite content: "We take great pride in providing our customers with a genuine convertible in our current Mini lineup," states Stefan Richmann, head of the Mini brand. So, the little open-air scamp continues its journey. It would have been a pity if, precisely two decades after its debut in 2004 at the Geneva Motor Show, it had come to an end.

It's not unexpected – back in 2021, the commitment to continue the convertible post-refresh was made clear. Now, for the upcoming open-air driving season, it's been updated to align with the current, refreshed model line. The front is characterized by an octagonal grille, with a small radar sensor nestled on the horizontal bar. Standard are the LED headlights, featuring three distinct lighting designs. Welcoming and farewell animations offer a pleasant greeting or a 'see you later'.
The fully automatic textile cover can be fully opened within 18 seconds while driving at speeds of up to 30 km/h, with the window ledges and side windows also being lowered simultaneously. It takes just 15 seconds to reverse the process. A concealed rollover protection system is located behind the rear headrests and activates when the central safety electronics detect a potential rollover situation.

With the top down, the trunk space is 160 liters. When the top is closed, the capacity increases to 215 liters – which is five liters more than the three-door model. There's also an option to have the black soft top with a contrasting grey Union Jack design. For those who prefer a sportier look, the Mini Cooper Convertible is available in the John Cooper Works (JCW) package, which includes unique front and rear designs.
In the interior, simplified details and fabric surfaces are prevalent… and, of course, the iconic Pizza-Infotainment system – an OLED screen measuring 240 mm in diameter. The usual row of toggle switches is also included. Behind the steering wheel, a Head-Up Display projects important information directly into the driver's line of sight.

However, those who choose the JCW Trim will receive sport seats crafted in black faux leather, featuring a multicolored knit material in the shoulder area and red accent stitches.
The 2025 Mini Cooper Cabrio will feature a trio of four-cylinder engines. Customers can opt for the base model, the Mini Cooper C Cabrio, which boasts a power output of 163 horsepower (120 kW) and a peak torque of 250 Nm. This model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds and has a top speed of 220 km/h.
Further insights into the current convertible car market:
The Mini Cooper S Convertible picks up the pace with its familiar 150 kW/204 horsepower. It boasts a peak torque of 300 Nm, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds, topping out at a maximum speed of 237 km/h. The performance figures for the John Cooper Works variant are still under wraps, with its electric version set to be unveiled to the public at the Paris Motor Show next week.
The latest Mini Cooper Convertible is expected to hit the German market by February 2025, with prices starting at €31,200.
