With listing reforms, Hong Kong is set to lead in IPO rankings, asserts departing SFC chairman
During his parting press conference, Tim Lui expresses his appreciation for the SFC's acquisition of a permanent headquarters.
"There's a strong possibility that Hong Kong might climb up the ranks in the global IPO market, considering we have more than 100 potential listings, which includes several major entities," stated Tim Lui Tim-leung in his final press conference as chairman on Thursday.
The urban stock market held the leading position in the global Initial Public Offering (IPO) sector seven times in the decade between 2009 and 2019. However, it has recently experienced a downturn due to the prevailing high-interest rate climate and the decrease in the value of Chinese shares.
