Dall’Igna Lauds Marquez’s Spectacular Comeback: A Triumph for Ducati in Australian MotoGP
Gigi Dall’Igna shares his thoughts on Marc Marquez’s impressive return to victory. He discusses the performances of Marquez, Martin, Bagnaia, and Di Giannantonio.
Gigi Dall’Igna commended Marc Marquez for his outstanding victory at the Australian MotoGP.
The Gresini team racer dropped from second position to 13th place due to an unusual incident at the start of the race. An insect collided with his visor, and when he pulled off his tear-off film, it got caught under his motorcycle, causing the wheels to spin.

However, Marquez made a strong comeback to surpass pole position holder Jorge Martin, securing his third grand prix victory riding a Ducati.
This decision provided additional support for Ducati head Dall’Igna’s choice to select Marquez over Martin for the factory team spot next season.
Dall’Igna reviewed the Australian MotoGP, highlighting the team's achievements: "We secured our 16th victory of the season! All six of our motorcycles finished in the top six spots, marking another historic milestone for us to celebrate collectively. It's yet another fantastic moment to express gratitude to everyone who is part of the incredible Ducati Corse team."
A remarkable Marc Marquez clinches his third victory of 2024, solidifying his position at the pinnacle of MotoGP once again.
"In his unique style, he staged an incredible comeback that swiftly brought him near the front-runners. With compelling confidence, he then engaged in a tense showdown with Martin."
An exceptional performance on a course that suits him perfectly. He unleashed his full potential, as he often does when he senses a win is near, holding nothing back. Unstoppable.
"The real testament to his power and significance lies in how quickly he bounced back from an unfortunate beginning, establishing himself as the dominant force who ultimately claims all the rewards."
"Even considering Martin, who, admittedly, stood to lose more than Marquez."
Despite the challenges, Jorge made a commendable effort to succeed, though he wasn't willing to do so at any price. He began the race strongly and maintained his lead until the final laps. When it was time to battle fiercely with Marc, he didn't retreat but ultimately decided, after putting in his utmost effort, to focus on securing valuable points.
"With impressive speed and the appropriate level of maturity, he extends his lead over Pecco to a 20-point advantage."
Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia had a weekend that fell short of expectations, consistently lacking something on a track that challenges him. He struggled to connect with both his bike and the circuit throughout the event.
"The weather on Friday significantly influenced the situation. The conditions hindered him from conducting the tests aimed at fine-tuning the setup on a track with fresh asphalt and from internalizing the routines necessary for optimal performance."
He put in a defensive performance, giving it everything he had, battling with the front-runners for as long as possible before slowly falling behind, particularly in the final stretch of the race.
In such circumstances, the characteristics of a true fighter emerge, showing the ability to minimize harm even when it appears that everything is working against them.
He performed exceptionally, securing a significant podium finish. Despite the fact that nothing more could have realistically been achieved, he was eager to make his presence felt and was poised alongside the leaders, prepared to compete for it.
A big shoutout to Fabio di Giannantonio for his impressive race performance, which hopefully signals positive outcomes for his future challenges. He delivered an outstanding effort by starting in the 12th position on the grid and securing a commendable 4th place finish.
Among the top competitors, he is quick and determined, standing out with superior qualifications. It's hard to predict… I recall him securing his first podium finish in the premier class here last year.
"There's barely enough time to reflect on the race in Australia before turning our attention to the tracks in Thailand. It's a new chapter waiting to unfold, leading to an ending that promises to be enjoyed."
"Let's go, Ducati!"
