Chinese Esports Firm VSPO Launches Multi-Title Tournament in Asia, Bolstered by Saudi Arabian Support: A New Era in Global Esports Industry
A Chinese esports company has announced the launch of a multi-game tournament in Asia, supported by Saudi Arabia. The tournament, named the Esports Asian Champions League, is financed by VSPO, a company affiliated with Tencent. It is set to commence next year featuring between seven and ten unspecified gaming titles.
Chinese esports firm VSPO has declared its inaugural multi-game competition in Asia, signaling a significant effort to widen its global influence, with backing from Saudi Arabia.
The competition may enhance China's attempts to secure a stronger presence in the worldwide esports market, an objective the nation has pursued in a bid to strengthen its influence by exporting its culture.
The ACL has also garnered backing from Savvy Games Group of Saudi Arabia, which poured US$265 million into Shanghai's VSPO in 2023. Saudi Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, occupying the position of vice-chairman at Savvy, assumed the title of honorary chairman for ACL.
