China Sets Sights on Creating Elite Industrial Workforce by 2035 Amid Tech Tensions and Rising Youth Unemployment
China Aims for 'Elite Industrial Workforce' by 2035 with Commitment to Advanced Training and Talent Development
The Central Committee of the Communist Party and the State Council of China have released new guidelines as the country faces unprecedented levels of youth unemployment and ongoing technological tensions with the United States.
China is focusing on enhancing education, assistance, and ideological orientation for its industrial workers, aiming to develop a pool of highly skilled professionals as it intensifies efforts in advancing high-tech industries.
The objectives were established in a series of directives released together by the Communist Party Central Committee, the primary governing group of the ruling party, and the State Council, which serves as China’s cabinet.
According to the guidelines, the nation will prioritize education to cultivate "a leading industrial technical workforce" and supply the necessary skills and talent for "modernization with Chinese characteristics."
The document, released on Monday but dated October 12, describes the industrial workforce as "the cornerstone of social wealth creation and a crucial player in executing strategies focused on innovation-driven development and hastening the establishment of a leading manufacturing nation."
It also emphasized the need to "mobilize and direct factory workers to take a central role in advancing China-style modernization."
Key objectives highlighted were to "strengthen ideological and political leadership" within the labor force, and to enhance its overall caliber by "developing a continually growing group of educated, skilled, and creative industrial workers."
According to a report by Xinhua, the state news agency, the nation plans to develop approximately 62,000 "master artisans" by 2035, which includes 2,000 categorized as "national-level craftsmen" based on the issued guidelines.
