Apple Launches its ‘Most Extensive’ Lab Outside US in China’s Tech Hub Amid Intensifying Competition with Huawei
Apple inaugurates its 'most comprehensive' laboratory outside the U.S. in China, amidst intense competition with Huawei. The latest establishment in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong technological collaboration area is among the numerous Apple research hubs in China.
The establishment began functioning on Thursday at Shenzhen Park in Hetao, a collaboration area created by the central government's orders to enhance the city's technological alliances with nearby Hong Kong, as per the report by the national media outlet, People's Daily.
The initial phase of the establishment, which covers 20,000 square metres (215,000 square feet), is set to be Apple's central location for research and development in the Greater Bay Area. This area is a significant economic and business hub that includes Hong Kong, Macau, and nine other cities within the Guangdong province.
In due course, the company plans to hire more than 1,000 local and overseas skilled individuals, making it the firm's largest laboratory outside the US, as per the report.
