Yuki Tsunoda Eyed as Potential Red Bull Teammate for Verstappen in 2025, Marko Reveals
Helmut Marko indicates Yuki Tsunoda is being considered for a spot at Red Bull for the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Helmut Marko disclosed that Yuki Tsunoda is being considered for a spot with Red Bull in the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Who will be partnering with Max Verstappen next season remains uncertain, as Sergio Perez's performance continues to disappoint.
Consequently, Red Bull might consider Tsunoda or Liam Lawson as potential replacements, the latter being promoted to fill Daniel Ricciardo's spot at VCARB.
Despite ranking as the second top performer for Red Bull since last year, trailing behind Verstappen, Marko and Christian Horner have hesitated to promote Tsunoda to the primary team.
His behavior and lack of maturity have played a role, even though he has demonstrated remarkable consistency in his performances.
In a conversation with F1-Insider, Marko provided the latest news regarding the driver lineup at Red Bull.
"Marko mentioned that Tsunoda is being considered to team up with Max as a driver for 2025,” he stated. “The outcomes of the upcoming races this season will determine our lineup of drivers for the following year.
"It's entirely plausible to me that a less experienced driver could end up racing beside Max."
"We made a decision to evaluate Lawson and Tsunoda side by side. They are equipped with identical resources, face similar circumstances, and now both have six races ahead to demonstrate who is superior."
Marko emphasized again his preference for having a less experienced driver team up with Verstappen for the 2025 season.
Several teams are opting for young talents, with Mercedes bringing on board Kimi Antonelli to fill the vacancy left by Lewis Hamilton.
Oliver Bearman is set to advance to Haas in the coming year as well.
"Marko emphasized the approach of providing opportunities for young drivers in Formula 1."
Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen, and Daniel Ricciardo represent just a few instances.
"Others have now started to adopt this mindset."
"Mercedes is offering Kimi Antonelli an opportunity, Haas is presenting Oliver Bearman with a chance, Williams is extending an offer to Franco Colapinto, and it appears that, luckily, Audi is now genuinely contemplating bringing the young Mick Schumacher on board."
