Rosberg Urges Norris to Eliminate Errors for F1 Title Bid Amid Singapore GP Triumph
Lando Norris has been advised to eliminate his mistakes if he aims to win an F1 championship.
Nico Rosberg, an F1 world champion, believes that Norris continues to make too many errors.
According to Nico Rosberg, Lando Norris needs to eliminate mistakes if he aims to secure the F1 world championship title.
Norris secured a commanding win at the Singapore Grand Prix, significantly reducing Max Verstappen's lead in the championship. The margin between the two contenders has narrowed to 52 points, with six races and a total of 180 points still up for grabs.
Norris managed to break his pattern of losing the lead during the first lap of Formula 1 races by turning his pole position into a dominant third victory of the season. During the race, he also narrowly avoided hitting the barriers on two occasions.
Nico Rosberg, the 2016 world champion, called these errors "very strange" and emphasized that the McLaren driver needs to eliminate such mistakes if he hopes to challenge Verstappen for the title.
Nico Rosberg stated on the Sky Sports F1 podcast, "People keep pointing out that Lando has begun from pole position seven times and failed to maintain the lead after the first lap on each occasion. They keep asking what he's doing incorrectly and if he's concerned about making the same mistake in the upcoming race."
The pressure starts to build up because you begin to worry about whether you can even start well, and if you'll make mistakes again the next day. You start to wonder if people will keep reminding you that it's your eighth attempt. This definitely adds to the stress. He seemed particularly pressured at the beginning, but in the end, he performed exceptionally well.
"The situation took a surprising turn due to the errors he made during the race. I was quite puzzled by what was happening, especially since he collided with the wall twice. Each collision was extremely serious and nearly caused him to retire from the race. He was quite fortunate not to be forced out."
"On one occasion, he veered significantly off course at a sharp turn, experiencing a major braking mishap rather than a minor one. Another time, he collided with the same barrier that George Russell crashed into last year during the final lap."
"He veered off the track once more while overtaking a slower car, specifically a Williams. So, there were three instances in total. It's quite unusual."
"I can’t recall a time when I, Max Verstappen, or Lewis Hamilton, while having a significant lead, made three significant errors. It was unusual. I understand that Singapore is very challenging in terms of focus and physical demands. I'm not sure what caused it."
“According to Lando, he frequently makes minor mistakes in various situations. This is a pattern we've observed in him, and he must eliminate these errors to contend for the championship this year.”
