Rising Ambitions: Carlos Sainz Jr Chooses Williams Over Audi for 2025 F1 Season, Backed by Father’s Support

Carlos Sainz Sr has spoken out about his son Carlos Sainz's decision to join Williams instead of opting for Sauber/Audi in 2025, stating that Williams is on an upward trajectory.

Carlos Sainz Sr characterized Williams as an "ascending project" while discussing his son's choice to turn down Audi.

Carlos Sainz Jr chose to sign with Williams for the 2025 Formula 1 season, even though he had proposals from Sauber/Audi and Alpine.

Under the guidance of James Vowles, Williams has demonstrated slight improvements and has set high goals for the future.

Numerous people anticipated that the present Ferrari driver would join Audi, considering his father's connections with the German company and the team's status as a factory outfit.

In an interview with Marca, Carlos Sainz Sr admitted that his son faced a difficult choice.

Carlos Sainz Sr expressed that the choice ultimately rested with his son, and it’s important to honor that. According to him, the decision was neither straightforward nor simple, with several possibilities on the table. In the end, it was up to his son to choose his path, and they are providing him with all the support they can. That is exactly what they have done.

"Williams is a developing project, showing improvement towards the end of this year. We remain optimistic and confident that this positive momentum will carry on into next year."

Carlos Sainz Sr highlighted his son's talent for enhancing the performance of every team he has joined, as well as his high level of professionalism, which makes him a valuable addition to Williams.

"Carlos has positively impacted the teams he has worked with, thanks to his skills and expertise," he mentioned. "The teams have shown improvement upon his arrival, which is crucial for any professional and should always be expected of them."

In my view, Carlos is a dedicated racer who has a clear sense of direction for his career. I have consistently supported him in this journey. Admittedly, this year has posed challenges for him, especially with the rumors about Hamilton potentially joining Ferrari, which created a complex scenario before the season even began.

"As a father, my nephew and I assisted him by exploring all the available options. However, my role has remained the same throughout this process."
